Leaders say that we are living in VUCA times. VUCA stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Certainly, law firm leaders were managing in VUCA times even before the pandemic changed our lives. In this module, we recognize that everyone – ourselves included – are in a constant state of learning new things. As leaders, we need to create an environment that is supportive of learning, risk taking and adapting to new situations. Fast and effective learning can be a strategic advantage. However, in law firms, sometimes risk taking and learning are met with overly punitive reactions to mistakes and failures.
